I really cant get over the fact that I will be the mom of a 2 year old in just a little over a month! I guess time flies by when you are chasing a growing little human around everyday, they get fast after 1! Mom life is crazy and ever changing. I am constantly learning more things about myself and how to be a mom every single day.
The most difficult thing I have struggled with becoming a mom is getting back to myself. Pre baby, I had myself together man! I wore cute outfits, worked out everyday, I had afternoon drinks with friends, I traveled, I took a shower whenever I wanted… I could go on and on! You get so wrapped up in taking care of this adorable little person you forget about you. Many days I would literally have to schedule a time to eat and shower and occasionally I still do! I wouldn’t change it for anything, I love being a mom! I definitely have some self care things I need to always remember.
About 5 years ago I started working out and switching to a healthier diet. I was in AMAZING shape when I found out I was pregnant. I went to the gym I ate my veggies and had my protein shakes, I felt great! Fast forward to after baby and, the struggle of making sure I ate enough food for the day was so real! I kinda just ate whatever I could get my hands on at the time. So, I started making fruit and veggie smoothies to make sure everyone was getting their daily nutrition! Taking care of yourself when you have a baby is so important and something new moms and O.G moms should never forget. We have little people to take care of so health should be first!
Smoothies are great and with the right ingredients can be a quick and tasty meal too! We live on smoothies over here and it feels great knowing we are all getting some vitamins. FYI this is also an amazing magical trick to give finicky toddlers veggies…they have no idea there is all this kale from dinner in that cup!
Here are a few healthy smoothie recipes that we love! The measurements on these are estimates, I hardly ever measure anything when making smoothies and sometimes I literally dump the whole drawer of fruit and veggies in my recipes!
Pumpkin Peach Smoothie
During the fall/winter we eat lots of pumpkin! I always buy real sugar pumpkins and make my own puree. It is a lot easier than it sounds I promise.
1/2 cup pumpkin
1/2 cup coconut water (peach mango flavored)
Dash of cinnamon and nutmeg
Tablespoon of honey (my sugar substitute)
Half an apple
1/2 cup ice
Coconut Orange Smoothie aka “The Fever Reducer”
My daughter had her first real temperature recently and I went in to panic! Then I found a recipe of a coconut orange smoothie and changed it a bit so she still got some veggies in. Her temperature went down within 30mins!
1 container of chobani coconut yogurt
1/2 -1 cup of kale (I add A LOT of kale)
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1/2 cup of water
This is my favorite summer time smoothie and I like to put mint in anything! I also add a green apple to this every now and then.
1/2 cup spinach
3-4 mint leaves
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
