The Fitbit is my new favorite gadget this year and I think I am becoming attached to it already!
This is my second time around using a Fitbit. I love it because not only does it keep me motivated to stay moving through out the day by tracking my steps but, the fit bit also has a bunch of other things you can track like how much water you are drinking, your workouts for the day and also your sleep pattern! The first time I tried a fitbit tracker was when I first had my daughter and I was still breast feeding. I was really curious to see just how much sleep I was getting and the fit bit was able to show just how crappy my sleep pattern was which, helped me figure out what I needed to do to get more rest.
These days everybody and their momma has a fitbit including my mom. Here are 5 reasons why you need one in your life!
Motivation To MOVE
The fitbit wristband is a tracking device you wear all day (except when you shower). The device syncs to your phone through an app that displays all your daily steps and anything else you choose to track such as sleep, exercise, water intake, calories etc. The recommend daily steps you should be taking through the day is 10,000. Through your dashboard as well as right on your wrist you can see how active or just how lazy you are! My fitbit lets me know if I don’t take at least 250 steps within a 1 hour period which definitely keeps me moving through out the day! I take my daughter on long walks now and she explores the neighborhood more than ever and I love it. Its fun bonding time for us all and mommy reaches her step goals.
Everyone likes a little reward even if its just a small party in your honor. Im definitely addicted to reaching my step goals! Your steps goals can be increased or decreased right in your dashboard. Once you reach your goal for the day your wrist band lights up and throws a small party just for you! I have been increasing my step goal every week now. You earn virtual badges and trophies you can show off to your friends.
Watch What You Eat
I’ve always been a big fan of calorie tracking especially when trying to get my mind back in healthy mode. Counting calories gives you a chance to really watch what you eat. Right in the fitbit dashboard you can track all the food you eat through the day and set calorie goals.
You’re Part Of A Secret Club
I went out to a club recently and my friend and I both had our fitbits on. We both were part of a “Weekend Warrior” challenge which is another cool feature on the fitbit that lets you connect with your friends and challenge each other to get the most steps. Her and I were talking about our fitbits and how many steps we had before we reached our goals, when 2 other ladies in the bathroom rolled up their sleeves to show off their arm candy. Its seriously like being part of a secret group!
They Match Everything!
My very first fitbit was the flex version, and with those you were kind of limited with colors and options. I now own the fitbit alta and love it because, you can change the wrist band colors to match your shoes, your purse or your nails like I do LOL.
I wear my fitbit all day everyday except when I shower so I love the versatility they now offer.
If you are thinking about getting a fitbit, I say go for it! They are fun and keep you moving. I never realized just how much I sat at my computer working until I got one of these. Not only does it make me more active but it also keeps my little one moving too. She loves going on the little adventures we now go on so I can get my steps in.
