A tutu table skirt quick way to make your party tables stand out! I love using them for girly princess parties! I was always intimidated by the idea of making a tutu table skirt but, they are super easy to do.
My very first one I did was for the How To Train Your Dragon themed party. It definitely gave it a more fun princess vibe! this skirt I decided to mix up colors and do shorter.
I made a longer tutu table skirt for the Unicorn Themed party which really made this party awesome.
I used this same one with for our Christmas party waffle bar, with a little less tulle and added light underneath it which, made everything really pretty!
How To Make A Tutu Table Skirt
*WARNING -These can get time consuming depending on the length and how full you want it to be
Things you’ll need:
Elastic– long enough to go around your table
*I didn’t get a shot of me cutting the cardboard but, before I cut out my tulle I cut out cardboard the to the length I want the tutu table skirt. The table I always use is about 29 inches high so, I just cut out a 29 inch long piece of cardboard. You may need to take tape a few pieces together to get the length.
Take your spool of tulle and wrap it around the cardboard repeating until you have lots of layers but, you can still cut through them. (You will be doing this a lot)
Cut through the layers on one end. You should now have several strips that are double the length of what your skirt will be
Take 1 strip, fold in half a make a loop like this
Place the loop against the elastic and pull the ends through the loop to create a knot right on the elastic.
Repeat until your tutu table skirt is as full as you like.
To attach the tutu table skirt to my tables I staple it, which may not be a good idea for everyone. I use the same table every time I style a party and it doesnt bother me to use this method however, for those of you using your valuable kitchen tables etc. I suggest using no sew velcro. I tried this method with the first table I made and it worked perfect. I wrap ribbon around the tables usually to hide any elastic exposed and it also adds a nice little detail.
Thats it! Now you know how to make a tutu table skirt and can also make a matching tutu skirt for the birthday girl!
